Frequently asked questions

Ordering & Quotations

How do I place an order?

Send your requirement through the enquiry form, by email, or through your local distributor. Include the catalog number for stock items, or the vector type, payload, target cells and quantity for custom work. A specialist confirms feasibility, lead time and price, and issues a formal quotation before any work starts.

Can I get technical advice before I commit to a purchase?

Yes. Pre-sales consultation is free and is usually the fastest way to avoid a construct that will not work. Send the target gene, the cell type or tissue, and the readout you plan to use, and we will recommend a backbone, promoter and selection marker combination before you order.

How is the delivery timeline set?

Stock items ship from inventory, typically within one to three business days of order confirmation. Custom packaging, stable cell line development and screening projects are quoted with a schedule in the statement of work, expressed in weeks from receipt of the sequence-verified construct or the agreed starting material.

Do you support bulk orders and long-term supply agreements?

Yes. For core facilities, companies and long-term partners we offer volume pricing, reserved production slots and standing technical support. Tell us your annual or per-project volume and we will propose a supply arrangement.

Technical Questions

Which viral packaging services do you offer, and how do they differ?

Four platforms: lentivirus, adenovirus, adeno-associated virus (AAV) and retrovirus. Lentivirus and retrovirus integrate into the host genome and are used when long-term expression in dividing cells is needed. Adenovirus stays episomal and carries a larger insert, which suits short-term high-level expression. AAV gives long-term expression in non-dividing tissue, and the capsid determines tropism.

What information do you need to start a packaging project?

The target gene or sequence, the backbone you want (or let us recommend one), the expression elements you need — promoter, tag, reporter, selection marker — the target cell type or tissue, and how you intend to use the vector. Our team reviews the design and suggests changes before packaging begins.

Which titer unit do you report, and how was it measured?

Lentiviral and retroviral vectors are reported in transducing units per milliliter (TU/mL), measured by functional transduction of a permissive cell line. AAV is reported in vector genomes per milliliter (vg/mL) by quantitative PCR against a standard curve. Adenovirus is reported as infectious units per milliliter (IFU/mL) or particles per milliliter (VP/mL). The assay used is named on the certificate of analysis for that lot.

How should viral vector lots be stored after arrival?

Unless the certificate of analysis or the instructions for use state otherwise, store lentiviral and retroviral vectors at -80 degrees C and aliquot on first thaw, because repeated freeze-thaw cycles reduce functional titer. AAV is stable at 2-8 degrees C for short periods but should be held at -80 degrees C for long-term storage. Adenovirus is stored at -80 degrees C.

Transduction efficiency is lower than expected. What should I check first?

Send the transduction images, your experimental record, the measured efficiency and the controls you ran. Technical support reviews cell condition and passage number, the multiplicity of infection, the transduction enhancer and the readout time point, and returns an analysis with suggested changes within one business day.

Can you produce a construct or serotype that is not in the catalog?

Yes. Custom constructs, AAV serotypes outside the standard range, engineered capsids and tumor-selective designs are all handled on a project basis. Send the sequence or the specification and we will confirm feasibility, estimated titer range and lead time before quoting.

Quality & Documentation

What documentation ships with a product?

Every lot ships with a lot-specific certificate of analysis, instructions for use and biosafety information. Technical datasheets, handling and storage guides and additional assay data are available on request. Nothing is reported as a typical or reference value where a lot-specific measurement exists.

How do I obtain a certificate of analysis?

A printed certificate of analysis ships with each lot. For an electronic copy, or for the certificate belonging to a lot you received earlier, email the catalog or lot number to the technical mailbox and we will return the document.

How is a product quality issue handled?

Report the lot number and what you observed. We follow a documented quality process: confirm the issue, identify the root cause, and propose a resolution, which may be a replacement, a re-test or a technical remedy. We keep the nonconformance record open until you confirm the outcome.

Are FuBio products for research use only?

Yes. Products are supplied for research use and are not intended for diagnostic procedures or for therapeutic or prophylactic use in humans unless a specific product is labeled otherwise. Biosafety documentation states the containment level and disposal requirements for each product class.

CRO Projects

What does the CRO service cover?

Contract research is built around viral vector technology: gene function studies, drug screening, cellular and animal model construction, custom vector development and biomarker assays. Work packages are scoped and priced independently, so you can use one stage without committing to the whole sequence.

How does a CRO project run?

Five stages: requirement review, study design, contract and acceptance criteria, execution, then delivery against those criteria. You get a named scientific contact for the duration of the project and written acceptance criteria before work starts, so the endpoint is defined in advance.
